Integrity, maturity, and compassion are our guiding principles and the qualities we seek in every potential member.
FLUX has cultivated a diverse, honest, mindful, and open community. We welcome mature players of any gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, size, nationality, sexual orientation, ability level, religion, elder status or family structure. Players from anywhere in the world are welcome to apply, however note we are generally US-based.
Recruits can join FLUX via in-game mail/whisper, or fill out an app on the guild website. In order to be a full member, an application must be filled under the "Join FLUX" tab on the website.
If you wish to speak to one of the Leadership team members beforehand to get a feel for the guild and ask questions, we encourage you to do so. There is always at least one team member online in the evenings.
Age Requirement Our age requirement is 18+. Special considerations may be made for family or close friends of existing members on an individual basis. Please contact a Council Leader or Officer if you fall under this category.
Naming Policy Flux Capacity abides by the naming policy set out by each respective game. If your name is inappropriate, you will not be invited to the guild.
2 - RECRUITMENT, INACTIVITY & DEPARTURES
New members or reinstated members of the guild will start at recruit status, for a trial period of two weeks. In order for a recruit to be promoted to Member rank, they must meet the following requirements:
* They have set up voice comms, such as Discord and TS. * There have been no complaints about the recruit from other guild members. * They have attended at least two guild events (scheduled or impromptu, one each week) during their two week trial period. This rule only pertains to recruits.
If the member does not meet these requirements at the end of two weeks after their join date, their trial period will be extended by an extra week until the requirements have been met.
For example: If a recruit attends only one guild event during their two weeks (without any notification from them why they have not attended another event), their trial will be extended.
If the third week passes by, and the requirements still have not been met, they will be talked to personally by guild leadership if the guild is still a good fit for them, or if there is anything the guild can do to accommodate them. If no reasonable agreement has been made, or no response has been made by the recruit, they will be kicked from the guild.
If the recruit meets all these requirements, they will be automatically be promoted to Member rank with all benefits related to that rank. Standard inactivity rules will then apply.
INACTIVITY & DEPARTURES
We have a minimum guild representation of around 50%. This is to ensure that we have a healthy and active guild community. It is advised to let us know ahead of time if you can only spend certain amounts of time in-guild and/or in-game.
If you are going to be away from the game for a period of time, just let us know! Make a post on the forums, or contact a council leader or officer and let us know that you will be away. If you are absent for a long period of time, we may think that you have quit the game and remove your characters from the guild. Removed members who later return, will be welcomed back into the guild.
If you end up leaving us to join a different guild, we would appreciate the courtesy of letting us know you are moving on, along with your reason, particularly if it's an issue we might be able to address. We each enjoy the game in our own way and sometimes this means another guild is better suited to your play style. While it's sad to see a member go, we understand this and do not take offense.
If a member is representing far below the minimum amount, it will be considered a form of inactivity, and the above rules will apply.
3 - GUILD RANKS
There are 8 ranks in Flux Capacity. They are as follows:
Council Leader A Council Leader represents the public "face" of the guild and helps maintain its overall direction and focus. Along with the Officers, they form the "Leadership Council", which maintains the guild's rules, and policies. Traditionally, Flux Capacity has more than one Council Leader to ensure all decisions are both fair and are in the guild's best interest.
Officer A highly recognized guild member who has repeatedly gone above and beyond the duties of a regular member. These members perform guild administrative duties, as well as plan, organize and lead events, and perform all other duties related to running the guild. Additional permissions are granted to Officers to assist in their duties. Champion Champions are outstanding members of the guild community who assist Officers and the Council with guild missions and events, and have the ability to activate them.
Warden A Warden is in all ways similar to a Champion, but with focus towards WvW. It also honors that member's battle prowess and continued support of FLUX in WvW.
Member This rank is a full guild member, and receives guild bank access and other perks. Alliance Players from other guilds who are considered guildmates. This rank can also represent members that split their time between RP/WvW guilds, and excludes them from the inactivity policy.
Recruit New members or reinstated members of the guild start here. At this rank, access to guild items such as gear and crafting materials will be restricted. If all recruitment requirements have been met (listed under RECRUITMENT, INACTIVITY & DEPARTURES), you will automatically be promoted to Member status after 2 weeks.
Inactive If a member does not log on for a period of two months and hasn't given advance notice of any absences, they will be marked Inactive. Members will have a week after being marked Inactive before being booted off the roster. If the member comes back to the game at a later date and wishes to rejoin, they are free to do so but are re-invited at recruit status.
4 - CONDUCT & ATTITUDE
If you have any concerns regarding a fellow member of FLUX, please bring it to the attention of guild leadership (Council, Officers, Champions, or Wardens). Please be discreet and courteous.
It is our goal to provide a friendly and positive atmosphere for our members. We wish to maintain a reputation for being a friendly guild. We accomplish this by treating others with the same respect and consideration we show to our guildmates.
We consider ourselves to be a casual, no-pressure guild, and we do expect members to add to our community, not merely reside here. We seek members who show a genuine interest in being here by being active in guild chat and the forums, and who contribute toward a friendly and mature environment.
Real life comes first. Please realize members may at times need to leave the keyboard or may have missed chat rather than intentionally ignoring another member. When in doubt, assume the best of intentions of all members. Griefing, Exploiting & Disputes with Other Players
Actions that would bring discredit upon Flux Capacity are always forbidden and can be grounds for immediate removal from the guild. These actions include: - All forms of "grief" playing or "griefing." Griefing is generally understood to be any malicious action that has the intent to disrupt another player's gameplay experience. - Any form of cheating or exploiting. This includes the use of any known exploitation of a bug in the programming or intentionally using a third party program, or purchasing in-game currency from a gold-selling company. If you know of a bug that allows you to do something in the game that you are not supposed to be able to do, don't do it. - Verbal abuse of guildmates or other players. In the unfortunate event that one of our members finds themselves in a dispute with another player, we expect them to conduct themselves with maturity. We expect our members to use diplomacy if possible to resolve the issue, and if it is not possible, to remove themselves from the situation before they bring discredit to themselves and their guildmates. If an officer or council leader is available, they are to be notified immediately of the situation so they may help resolve it as quickly as possible.
Do not air any grievances in guild chat or the forums.
5 - ROLE-PLAYING
Flux Capacity is not a role-playing guild but we have members who do participate in this part of the game.
Our primary reasons for joining a role-playing server stem from the fact that the community tends to be comprised of more mature and respectful individuals and guilds. As members of a role-playing community, it is expected for you to be respectful of this type of environment and not intentionally disrupt any role-playing you may encounter in the game.
Intentionally griefing any role-players can be grounds for removal from the guild.
6 - ALTERNATE CHARACTERS
Flux Capacity does not place a limit on how many alternate accounts are allowed in the guild. Also, members are not prohibited from playing characters of opposite factions (where applicable) in addition to their Flux Capacity characters if they wish to do so. Alts can serve as roleplaying characters, bank mules, or just-for-fun characters.
We are not a stepping stone to a raiding guild, nor are we a staging area to park all your alts while your main spends their time elsewhere. If a member leaves to pursue a different playstyle which we cannot provide, we ask that you remove your alternate accounts from the guild as well.
7 - LOOT RULES
Please note, these rules apply to games with Need-Or-Greed loot systems. The following does not apply to GW2.
Guild loot rules will take precedence for any guild coordinated event. Flux Capacity loot is divvied up on a NBG (Need Before Greed) basis, "Mains" over "Alts". During an event, each player is able to have two wins: 1 x "Need" and 1 x "Greed". How this works is as follows: an item drops, players announce in chat if it is a "Need" item. If only one character needs the upgrade, they win it. If more than one claims "Need", then they roll. Winner has their 1 x "Need" (can't claim "Need" again for the rest of the raid). If no one "Needs" an item, then it becomes available for "Greed", operating under the same principles.
Exception: If no one claims "Need" or "Greed", and someone who has already won an item would like it, they can have a second/third win. Items will be given out to members who would use them before they become salvaged or guild-banked.
